Tom Cain

Founder & Director,
Nova Support and Care C.I.C.

Hi, I’m Tom Cain, the founder and director of Nova Support and Care C.I.C.. With 16 years of experience working with children, young people, and families, I have held a variety of roles including youth worker, education and wellbeing practitioner, family support worker, senior family support worker, and service manager of semi-independent accommodation services, as well as deputy manager in a children's residential home. I am also a registered children’s nurse and foster carer, which has deepened my understanding of the challenges families face.

I come from a family that could have greatly benefited from the services we provide at Nova Support and Care. My own experiences, both personal and professional, have given me a unique insight into the struggles families often face, and I am deeply passionate about helping others who find themselves in similar situations.

Over the years, I became frustrated by services that promised so much but failed to deliver, often because they lacked the right experience and values. This led me to create Nova Support and Care, where we focus on delivering real, meaningful support to families. I am committed to providing services that are based on experience, integrity, and a genuine desire to make a lasting difference.

I chose to make Nova a Community Interest Company so that any profit we generate from our services is reinvested directly into the families and communities we support, as well as into improving our services and developing our staff.

Our priority is making a real difference, not making money.

Nova Support and Care exists to ensure that families receive the support they truly deserve – practical, compassionate, and empowering assistance that helps them navigate challenges and build a stronger, more resilient future.

Megan Hillyard

Director,
Nova Support and Care C.I.C.

With nearly a decade of experience in the supported accommodation and care sector, I’ve dedicated my career to helping individuals live with dignity, purpose, and the support they deserve. My expertise spans a range of specialist areas, including learning disabilities, dementia, mental health, and end-of-life care.

Although I began my career working with children and young people in a youth centre setting, my journey in care has grown to encompass work with adults and families facing complex needs. Over the past few years, I’ve had the privilege of supporting young adults and their families, which has given me valuable insight into the real-life challenges so many people experience.

Compassion, respect, and a genuine desire to make a difference are at the heart of everything I do in my personal and professional life. I find real joy in helping others overcome barriers and improve their quality of life. I believe that sometimes all it takes is a little support and kindness to create lasting change.

Nova Support and Care C.I.C. was founded on this belief, and I’m proud to be part of an organisation that is committed to empowering individuals and building brighter futures. I’m excited about what lies ahead for Nova and the positive impact we aim to make in the communities we serve
